IRON
The Iron collection borrows from iron tools you'd find in an old mine. Think nail heads and train track ties. My use of cobalt chrome comes from a desire to capture the look of iron - the matte, black finish - it almost looks like velvet. In fact, people often reach out to touch it, expecting it to be soft! But iron rusts, and can react adversely to human chemistry, so I searched for an alternative. I found the answer in cobalt chrome, which is stainless (no rust) and hypoallergenic (no allergic reaction) and most importantly, takes the deep black color I so dearly wanted when oxidized. The iron collection honors the original inspiration for the cobalt chrome in my collection.
